ABOUT PROJECT

For this renovation project, we supplied and installed bronze windows as part of the restoration of a home originally built in 1460. The building required sensitivity that balanced maintaining the home’s heritage while allowing it to benefit from modern performance. The specification of our bronze Heritage windows, selected by McCurdy & Co who are specialists in historic restoration, was integral to maintaining the authentic appearance of the original structure.

The project presented unique challenges, including a significant number of irregular and out-of-square openings, which our custom-fabricated windows were able to accommodate precisely. Many of the windows featured traditional leaded lights and incorporated saddle bars, both of which helped to preserve the building’s historical character.

The Heritage system was selected for its slim, delicate profile and flexibility. Its ability to replicate period aesthetics while accepting modern double glazing up to 16mm made it ideally suited for this project. Each unit was traditionally pointed with silicone, and some windows included curved elements and transoms to reflect the original design.

This project reflects the adaptability and craftsmanship of our bronze windows. The final result highlights the property’s medieval roots while ensuring comfort and performance for generations to come.
