ABOUT PROJECT

Located within the grounds of the Grade II listed Wentworth House in South Yorkshire, Wentworth Garden Centre has been a family run business since 1976. It includes historic gardens, a family farm, shops and places to eat. Architectural Bronze was brought in to work with Foers Contracts on ‘The Bothy’ that was completely remodelled in 2020.

A mix of Thermabronze casement screens, bronze doors, and bronze-framed windows were used to provide a connection between the indoor and outdoor environment and enhance the building’s appearance for the garden centre and restaurant. Internal and external bronze screens were also added to help retain the original structure and complement the existing timber on the building.

A key feature of the project was the bronze clad doors and the Thermabronze fixed frames which complemented the site and contributed to its thermal performance and structural integrity.

Bronze panels, traditional beading, and a scroll handle choice for doors were incorporated to align with the building’s aesthetic.

Wentworth Garden Centre has a long and interesting history. The kitchen gardens were created under the supervision of renowned York architect, John Carr. After WW2, much of the cultivated area fell into disrepair. However, after years of dedication and hard work, the business is now thriving, and we are proud to be part of the family history.
